The Haifa Port situated in the Haifa Bay is one the country's 2 largest marine installations. The port is serving a wide variety of cargo types, such as: containers, bulk cargo, oil tankers and general cargo, as well as passenger cruise vessels. The port is located in the downtown area of the city, with storage and cargo handling rear areas in the east, as well as additional areas reserved for future expansion.

The port is undergoing a massive upgrade and expansion, namely renewing existing areas and facilities and constructing new ones in its eastern section. The project described here was focused at the reorganization of an existing terminal for container handling the construction of a main road of the port.


TEDEM was the major consultant responsible for the integral planning of the new site. Project's main components addressed during the design process were the following:
  • Integral physical layout of the new facility;
  • Port's main road, traffic schemes, parking, etc.;
  • Truck weighting scales facility;
  • Various types of infrastructure utilities.
